Pediatrics including NICU
PEDIATRICS :
Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. A medical doctor who specializes in this area is known as a pediatrician, or paediatrician. The word pediatrics and its cognates mean "healer of children"; they derive from two Greek words: παῖς (pais "child") and ἰατρός (iatros "doctor, healer"). Pediatricians have specialized training in the physical, emotional, and behavioral needs of children. Pediatricians only see children, so they often have a broader experience recognizing and treating childhood illnesses.
To take care of your child, your pediatrician will:
- Do physical exams
- Give your child vaccinations
- Make sure she meets milestones in growth, behavior, and skills
- Diagnose and treat your child's illnesses, infections, injuries, and other health problems
- Give you information about your child's health, safety, nutrition, and fitness needs
